More Than This was a spontaneous addition to my library haul; I went looking for The Rest of Us Just Live Here and found this as well.
It was just as good; in fact, I think I enjoyed it even more!
The story starts with the death of the main character. We meet him as he is drowning, and follow him through everything that happens next. I can’t talk about too much without giving massive spoilers, but the world he wakes up in, the characters he meets, and the way he tries to figure out what’s going on are just beautifully drawn together.
My only gripe is that the book ends – no spoilers – on an unresolved note; I put it down with a cry of “Arrgh! Noooo!” as I so desperately wanted to know what was going to happen! It is an ending; we don’t really need to find out more for the story to be a whole one, but I hate that kind of conclusion. It didn’t ruin the book for me though. I’ll still definitely read it again.
A poignant, well-written and bitter-sweet read.
